David Cameron accepts Isle of Man not a Tax Haven

Posted on in IQE Isle of Man

United Kingdom Prime Minister, David Cameron last week recognised that the Isle of Man is not a tax haven.

Speaking in the House of Commons, the prime minister praised the steps taken by the Isle of Man and the other crown dependencies in their transparency and fairness to tax matters.

Mr Cameron said; "it is very important our focus should now shift to those territories and countries that are really tax havens. The Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories, which matter so much - quite rightly - to the British people and members, have taken the necessary action and should get the backing for it."

The news will be welcomed by Isle of Man Chief Minister Alan Bell who has recently written twice to the Prime Minister to reassure him about the islands position on the identification of corporate beneficial ownership and tax information exchange.
