Isle of Man Signs First South American Tax Agreement

Posted on in IQE Isle of Man

The Isle of Man has signed a Tax Information Exchange Agreement ("TIEA") with Argentina, making this the first between the Island and a South American country.

The TIEA was signed at a ceremony held in London on 14th December 2012 by the Isle of Man Treasury Minister Eddie Teare and Argentina's Federal Administrator Dr. Ricardo Echegaray.

Minister Teare commented: "The signing of this agreement is an important step in building closer relations between Argentina and the Isle of Man.  Argentina is a G20 country and a member of the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes, so this is a significant addition to the Isle of Man's network of international tax agreements. This agreement is the first between the Isle of Man and a South American country and its addition to our expanding network of agreements demonstrates the Isle of Man's commitment to international standards of tax transparency and effective exchange of information."

We have the expertise to assist with multi-jurisdictional fiduciary services for international structures

As Chairman of Greenko Group plc, I have enjoyed a four year association with IQE during which time they not only provided administration, corporate governance and company secretarial support but also the [dedicated] services of Mike Brown FCIS as a qualified and experienced Company Secretary to act on our behalf. Throughout this time, I found IQE and their staff to be very helpful, patient and professional in their dealings. As a London Stock Exchange AIM listed company we undertook several complex multi-jurisdictions corporate transactions and I am particularly appreciative of IQE’s invaluable support on these occasions.
